CaixaForum

Why locals love it

The CaixaForum is housed in a beautifully restored factory at the foot of the Montjuic, right behind the Fira and across from Mies van der Rohe's 1929 Expo pavillon, reconstructed in 1988. Entrance is free all year, as it's run by the foundation that owns La Caixa, Spain's second-largest bank.

Why you should visit it

The changing exhibitions feature everything from modernist architecture to the great painters, and some modern art for good measure. Recently, CaixaForum has committed to an exchange with Prado in Madrid, possibly one of the finest art museums in the world - more world-class exhibits are sure to follow.

Special tip

Though texts are in Spanish and Catalan, you'll find laminated translations in holders next to the exhibit entrances.
