The casual observer would be forgiven for thinking this a work of that guy, Gaudi, but it is actually a contemporary of his, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, who designed the Palau de la Música Catalana. It was built between 1905 and 1908, and is a stunning example of Catalan modernism.

First of all, the building is worth seeing, in and of itself. But the Palau also has an eclectic program, featuring international greats like Patti Smith and Phillip Glass, as well as local talent and evenings dedicated to traditional music. They also make workshops for the youngest in the family.
