Founded in 2015, The Rooftop Guide lists over 1,100 rooftops in more than 100 cities worldwide. They travel the globe every month to review rooftops (over 600 to date!) These are their 5 favourites among an impressive selection of rooftop bars in NYC.

1. The Press Lounge

If you’re looking for the ultimate skyline view in one direction and a beautiful sunset view over the Hudson River in the other direction, the luxurious and modern Press Lounge at Ink48 Hotel is the place to be.

In the afternoon and early evening, the rooftop terrace is ideal for cocktails and a pre-party. During the later hours, it turns into a vibrant nightlife spot where trendy people gather to party under the stars with Manhattan as a mighty backdrop.

Dress for success and bring your best party mood to feel at home here.

2. JIMMY at The James

At JIMMY at The James, you’ll find what’s probably the best rooftop swimming pool in the city. The terrace is only open to hotel guests during the day, but at around 5 pm it opens to the public, transforming into a superb bar and party spot. The clientele is a little younger here.

If you value great views coupled with a vibrant atmosphere, this is the place for you.

3. 230 Fifth

Perched on Fifth Avenue right in the middle of Manhattan, the location of this gem couldn’t be better. It’s a laid-back rooftop bar where you don’t have to dress in your finest attire to feel at home; jeans and a T-shirt work just fine.

On Sundays, you can enjoy a nice rooftop brunch while admiring the view of the Empire State Building. The coolest thing about 230 Fifth, however, are the igloos that appear in the autumn, winter, and spring. They make the terrace available no matter what the weather brings!

4. The Heights at Arlo NoMad

With a relaxed atmosphere and simple décor, The Heights is quite unique compared with NYC’s classic rooftops. But don’t let your eyes fool you. The spectacular skyline panorama is among the best in Manhattan.

And unlike many other rooftop bars in NYC, it’s already open at lunchtime. Both locals and tourists gather here to enjoy the views, preferably with some beers and guacamole (it’s super yummy).

5. PH-D Lounge

A gorgeous skyline view and vibrant party atmosphere make PH-D Lounge one of the most popular rooftop bars in NYC. It attracts a trendy crowd, so wear your finest party clothes to blend in. The bar serves great cocktails and tasty bites. Remember to book a table in advance if you plan on coming here on a weekend.
