Historic Union Canal runs from Edinburgh to Falkirk, and at its heyday it was used to transport minerals to the Scottish capital. Today it is a popular place for leisure purposes. There is a towpath so you can cycle all the way down to Falkirk, passing by majestic Linlithgow palace, and enjoy the scenic countryside view on the way.

Experience Edinburgh's revitalised canal corridor. On a sunny day enjoy a walk, a run or a bike ride along the canal. If you have a passion for wide beam boats, book a ride and have your afternoon tea aboard. It can be real fun for both kids and adults to watch how canal locks work in practice.
Along the 35-mile canal route there are several places to stop for refreshments.
