Path by the river

Water Of Leith Visitor Centre

Why locals love it

The path by the Water of Leith is ideal for nature walks, romantic strolls or observing woodland wildlife. It's also undoubtedly the most scenic way between certain points of the city, my personal favourites include the route near the Union Canal or at Stockbridge. Prefer the saddle? Take your bicycle or your horse.

Why you should visit it

Wherever you choose to enter/exit the Water of Leith Walkway, so much to see. The path passes the Union Canal, the Gallery of Modern Art, Dean Village, St Bernards well, the heart of Stockbridge and the Royal Botanic Garden, before reaching the Leith waterfront. Pick up a Walkway Guide from the Visitor Centre or download it from their webpage.

Special tip

St Bernards well has just been fully renovated and looks beautiful.
