Ildiko R

I'm Ildiko, a Hungarian girl from Budapest, currently living in Edinburgh, after spending 2 amazing years in the Polish capital. I like languages, arts, coffee and socialist modernist architecture – the latter is probably a side-effect of my time in Warsaw. Being an expat sometimes feels like being a local and a visitor at the same time. You have the free time of a local and the adventurous spirit of a newcomer to explore all the hidden gems of your chosen city. So shall we start exploring?

I love my city because: Edinburgh is full of with history and hidden gems which are waiting to be explored. The Scottish capital is small enough not to feel crowded and still having a wide range of cultural events and amazing festivals to offer.

My idea of a great trip is: Pick a random destination, the less mainstream the better. Explore local cuisine and wander around the town without a blink on your map. You will notice much more details and get off the beaten track.

I have travelled to: Most European countries including longer stays in Vienna, Tallinn, Tartu, Cracow and North Wales. My favourite trips: InterRailing through Scandinavia, exploring Berlin with my cousin, enjoying Russian hospitality in Kaliningrad and St Petersburg.

I know great tips about: My current home - Edinburgh, my previous home - Warsaw and my home town - Budapest

My three passions: Travel. Languages. Art&Architecture.
