This is one of the few places in Milan that hasn’t been swept up by the happy hour craze. You won’t find any watered down drinks and dubious-quality buffets here. The atmosphere is old fashioned and relaxing, with table service and top-notch cocktails. It’s busy but not crazy, making it a great place to catch up with friends in Gatsby-esque style.
Cocktail bars are a highly endangered species in Milan. This one is a local institution. Owned by the same family since 1967, it’s where Milan’s traditional cocktail, the 'negroni sbagliato' (red martini, Campari and sparkling wine), was invented. The uniformed waiters could be friendlier, but this just adds to the retro atmosphere.
Try the 'mangia e bevi' – another signature cocktail made with ice cream and three different liqueurs.
