Why locals love it?
You can't have lived in Tartu and not have heard of the Genialistide klubi. If this place believed in translations, the name would mean something akin to "Genius club", but better. An establishment within subcultures, it makes for a venue where theatre, music, cinema and joy meet.
Why you should visit it
With something so eagerly defying attempts at definitions, it can be hard to pin the place down. There's regular events, but they all paint a blurry abstract of electro, jazz, indie rock and countless other styles. Whatever's happening, you can be sure you'll enjoy the way-more-than-casual atmosphere.
Special tip
During the day they serve cheap and honest food, so better bring some cash.

This place is my definite favourite in Tartu. During the daytime they offer cheap but good meals and a relaxing atmosphere, during the nighttime they offer awesome company and great shows. Even after the show is over and it is long past midnight, no one ever bothers leaving so if you are ever looking for something after midnight, this is where the parties usually go to die at. As a non-smoker side note, this place has the comfiest smoking room!
