Even though there are no real mountains in Estonia, the south side is quite “hilly” and there are some of those to climb and discover in Tartu as well. Whether that is good or bad, depends mainly on your physical shape and/or will. The most important sight (there is no possible way you can miss it) is of course the university, established in 1632, it has been shaping the image of the town since then. In addition to that and the knolls, there are plenty of other interesting sights to conquer in Tartu. From the green alleys and parks to cool and unique sculptures to the overall beautiful architecture, you will have more than enough pictures to show your friends when you get back home. As Tartu is an artsy town, don't forget to pop into one of its small galleries and museums that hold treasures yet to be discovered by the bigger audience.
