Why locals love it?
The second you walk into this pub you'll notice a couple of things. Firstly, it's busy. Secondly, it's high. Like, really high. Seriously, an 11-metre-ceiling high. The reason why the place is so spacious is that it used to be a massive storage space for gunpowder.
Why you should visit it
Fair enough, Püssirohukelder is more of a pub than a party venue, but it hosts live music and karaoke nights on a regular basis. It's fairly safe to say that, Sunday excluded, there's something happening every single night. And with a capacity of 300 people, it draws a crowd.

In addition, if you want to do the same mistake as every single student who comes to study at Tartu, try out the Püssirohu Punane or the "Gunpowder Red". It is the best red beer one can get in Estonia and most likely the most dangerous one because these lunatics sell a liter's worth for half the price from Mondays till Thursdays.
