Kristjan Jaak Peterson was an Estonian writer and poet who died of tuberculosis at the age of 21, having lived a very poor life and was known to have walked from Tartu to Riga and back several times.
Despite his complicated youth this guy knew 16 languages, wrote many poems and played a fairly important role in Estonian culture. You've got to give him some credit for that.
His birthday on the 14th March is now celebrated as the Day of Estonian language.
