A unique place in Vienna - full of the dark relicts of Habsburg family. This is the dark side to all the glory and gold you can see in the rest of the city. This burial vault was only reserved for the emperors of the Habsburg monarchy and their close relatives.

Why you should visit it
This crypt is not a simple cellar full of coffins. Those emperial coffins are fine works of craftsmenship, perfected with detail ornaments, crowns, skulls and more. The most precious coffin is the double coffin of Maria Theresia and her husband, being the size of a car.
Special tip
Bizarre fact: Sometimes you find letters at the coffins from people wishing for the comeback of the monarchy.
