Hi,

I am selected in Abu Dhabi, UAE as a software engineer and has signed the job offer, also I send him the scanned copies of all the required attested documents along with the hard copy of my attested degree (attested from the embassy in my country) via courier.

He told me that my employment visa is under process now and will inform me asap but it has been 9 days since then and I haven't communicated with him

Should I contact him and ask about my visa or wait for their email. I sometimes get negative thoughts if something gets delayed.

Hi Azure
The visa process takes from 3-6 weeks as they run background checks for any new comer to UAE which takes most of the time .. so that’s a normal wait.. what you can do is in few days you may contact your employer and ask casually if they need any more information from you.
All the best with your new job :)

background checks? Even if the employer is reputable and doing it? Still?

Hi Azure
Yes its by law that all companies have to send their new employees profiles for security checks before proceeding with the visa .. thats one of the reasons why UAE is the safest country in the world :)

9 days is ok. You cant know the exact time when the visa will be ready but you can ask them on which stage it is.
Good luck

Hi, Thanks.

Normally how long does it take to get done with employment visa if my employer is doing it?

Also, I sent him the scanned copies of all the required documents attested from foreign affairs and UAE embassy (Masters degree).

Then they asked for the hard copy of my master's degree via courier.

Also, the company is reputable.
