City Beach

Blijburg aan Zee

Why locals love it

Of course, there is no real sea in Amsterdam. But at the artificial island 'IJburg' there is a city beach called 'Blijburg' where you can swim and sunbathe. And yes, Holland is not famous for its nice weather. But that means that when the sun finally decides to show up, all Dutchies rush out to get a tan and have some fun.

Why you should visit it

The beach welcomes all ages to come hang out and escape the city life. The beach bar/lounge offers surprisingly nice food for a beach bar. In the evening the fun goes on with parties on the beach or inside the bar.

Special tip

Opens late spring. If it's nice weather before that: take a train to Zandvoort (20 min) from central station to wander the real beach!
