Why locals love it
De Walvis (The Whale) is located near the Westerpark and is a good example of a great non-brown bar in Amsterdam. Those are great, but De Walvis shows how it's done to create a new place that this has an intimate ambiance. They are known for serving decent food at good prices. Nothing fancy, but just good.

Why you should visit it
If you want to get in contact with locals in the ages 25 - 35 years old, this is a good place for you. You will notice that most visitors are well dressed (again, nothing fancy) and higher educated. So besides the food and ambiance, a good conversation can also be reason for a visit.

De Walvis is also a great place to watch live football (soccer)!
