My husband, son, and I took the Hungry Birds Street Food Tour last month. We learned a lot about the culture and history of the peoples of the city, had a lovely time, and got to try so many unique and delicious food during the tour. From start to end, the entire tour was the highlight of our 3 day visit to the city.

I highly recommend the Hungry Birds! Everything we tried was delicious, from the first bite to the last sip. If you take their tour, you won't be disappointed.

Description

We believe that sharing food, stories, and time with other hungry globetrotters is the seed of friendship and connection. Our goal is to fill your belly and soul by introducing you to our city through its tastes and tales.

Let us take you ''off the eaten track” to discover some truly special places that serve up wonderful foods that locals love.

From Monday to Saturday, our street food adventure begins in the multicultural neighbourhood of De Pijp, home to one of the biggest markets in the Netherlands – the Albert Cuypmarkt. It’s famous for offering some of the most delicious Dutch and colonial street foods. Stroopwaffels, krokets, Surinamese and Indonesian dishes, and the infamous herring are some of the dishes you’ll savour here.

After the market, we’ll visit some of our favourite specialty stores and family-owned eateries. From a delicious cheese tasting to the place that sells the city’s legendary chocolate cookie and much more...

In typical Dutch style, we’ll end the experience at one of the oldest brown bars in Amsterdam to wash down all of the goodness.

See you soon! Doei! (Dutch for "Bye!")

Just fantastic
Mor was intrepid in the rain. She was interesting and lively. We had a great time and learned a lot.

Quiet Sunday on the streets of Amsterdam
We had a very enjoyable tour, led by Audrey. People from Austria, Bahrain, Indonesia, and the US. Our first stop for breakfast featured homemade and local jam, orange juice, various toppings, french toast, and many more. All were very good. We didn't feel like we did that much walking but the tour lasted over 4 hours with stops for croquettes (which we found horrible!), herring, Indonesian food (new to us), cheese tastings and wonderful cookies. We learned many things about Amsterdam as well as eating. Highly recommend this tour.
Noisy Saturday in Amsterdam
We arrived early for the start of our walking tour and nobody seemed to be around .... except for many tourists. But the tour came together at the correct time and we spent more than 2 hours seeing Amsterdam with a local. This gave us a good feel for the city and kept us awake after an overnight flight.

We would recommend this tour to others.

Best way to explore Amsterdam
We really enjoyed the food tour! We were shocked with how much food was provided, but nothing you can complain about - just be prepared. :) Great history of the city, lots of walking and fantastic food! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
