Tour by Rolf

I believe that making tourists feel at home and making them smile is important. As an official tour guide who is born and bred in Amsterdam, I offer my customers a wealth of information on history, art, architecture, and social life. People experience my tours as personal, specialized, fun, and state to have a new friend at the end of the day.

Amsterdam is sometimes referred to as the biggest village in the world as it has a very pleasant and laidback feel. Ever since the famous Canal Ring was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, the city has become something of an open-air museum. Those of you with a keen eye for history and architecture are guaranteed to love it!

On this tour I’ll show you buildings that are 300, 400 even 500 years old. Besides being great to look at, their stories are incredibly interesting and entertaining.

I follow a personal philosophy of “infotainment” where, instead of boring you to death with just dates and names, I liven up the tour with fun facts and anecdotes. Although I’m a fully licenced National Guide, I have my own personal style of guiding. At the end of the tour I want you to feel as if a friend has shown you around the city.

Please note that each tour may differ slightly, for instance if it’s all guys, we might spend a little bit longer in the Red Light District, whereas if it’s all girls, we can take a little detour to the city’s best shopping area. If you have specific interests or wishes, just contact me and I'll see if I can cater to them.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank Rolf for THE BEST walking tour I have ever had - In Europe or anywhere. I am a 44 year old man and had my 14 year old daughter with me. He was fun, so knowledgeable, understood his audience, and made the journey personal. What a wonderful day! I would recommend Rolf to ANYONE seeking a greater understanding of the city, how and when it was founded, and where to go for fun. We had a blast, and my 14 year old still talks about it. Thank you Rolf!
My husband and I had an amazing time in Amsterdam and it would not have been possible without our guide: kind, wise and great. Not only did he showed us the city, but he truly described every part of it with both information and anecdotes. Our experience was definitely heightened by him.

Fantastic tour/tour guide
I really enjoyed my time with Rolf. He was very accommodating and great company. And the physical activity of the tour itself and being "off the beaten path" was great. After working up a serious appetite during the morning ride, pancakes never tasted so good at our lunch stop! Rolf also offered a coffee and/or beer stop (neither of which I drink) so we just kept riding by my choice. I highly recommend Rolf and this tour.
Great family outing exploring The Netherlands!
My husband and I, along with our two young adult daughters had a fabulous day touring the Dutch countryside by bike with Rolf. It was great to explore more of Amsterdam, but especially to visit some of the beautiful and historic villages outside the city. Rolf met us at our hotel at 10:00 am and we had a marvelous ride that wasn't too strenuous (The Netherlands is basically flat). We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a restaurant specializing in Dutch pancakes, and we ended the day back in Amsterdam at a brewery located in one of the few surviving windmills. It was a very fun and interesting day!
Nothing better than a bicycle ride with a friend through the countryside!!
Just a five minute bike ride out of town and we were in the most beautiful countryside. A flat ride made it easy but the conversation and laughs with Rolf was the highlight of our 3 week journey to Europe. We would certainly book this tour again or any tour that Rolf offered! His knowledge of the area and personal insights made the trip fun.
