While I had seen a number of these paintings in art books, Caspar was able to provide history and nuance to the paintings. He compared the paintings to others being done at the same time. He also provided information about the painter's life which added meaning to the paintings. We did a group tour with him through the Rijk's museum and were so impressed that we requested a private tour with him through the Van Gogh museum. If you have any interest in art, you would find Caspar very helpful in understanding the various paintings in these museums.

A guided tour of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum is an ideal introduction to Dutch painting, history and culture. During this two-hour tour we’ll discuss the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century and how Amsterdam exploded from a small fishing village into one of the most powerful cities in the world. Incredibly, many of the mechanisms that were put in place to run this new city-machine are still used today.
