While I had seen a number of these paintings in art books, Caspar was able to provide history and nuance to the paintings. He compared the paintings to others being done at the same time. He also provided information about the painter's life which added meaning to the paintings. We did a group tour with him through the Rijk's museum and were so impressed that we requested a private tour with him through the Van Gogh museum. If you have any interest in art, you would find Caspar very helpful in understanding the various paintings in these museums.

Description

A guided tour of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum is an ideal introduction to Dutch painting, history and culture. During this two-hour tour we’ll discuss the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century and how Amsterdam exploded from a small fishing village into one of the most powerful cities in the world. Incredibly, many of the mechanisms that were put in place to run this new city-machine are still used today.

Wandering through the museum, we’ll observe Amsterdam's enormous transformation through the eyes of Dutch Masters including Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals and Jan Steen – painters who captured 17th-century society from entirely unique perspectives.

Join us and discover what makes Dutch Masters so unique, and how Rembrandt, nicknamed “the magician” in his early years, earned the title “grandfather of impressionism”.

We arranged for a private guide through the Rijkesmuseum. We met Caspar at the appointed time and then proceeded to weave and wend our way through the Great Masters collection. It is amazing that you can get so close to these masterpieces and having Caspar quietly explaining them to you was magical. I can't imagine trying to do this on your own, with limited time and knowledge - why not let an expert take you through. We are so glad we found him on Trip Advisor, so much so, we booked him for the Van Gogh. Again, fabulous tour, wonderful explanations - very thought provoking. Do yourself a favor and book a tour - his prices are so reasonable, you will be thankful you did.
Wonderful!
Caspar was our guide for the Rijksmuseum a few days ago. He inquired as to what we wanted to see, and we were open for the experience as he liked. I was so impressed with the history and interpretations he provided us at many painting and several objects. Most importantly, there was time to reflect on the the possibilities present when the artist/master created the work. Caspar is also a working artist, and it is obvious that he enjoys what he’s doing. It was a fascinating tour. Excellent experience. Thank you, Caspar!
