If Dr Karlonia isn't already a national treasure, she needs to be. Superlatives do not begin to paint the picture. she is all of that and more. Great communicator. Steeped in historical and local knowledge. Worldly in triangulating history (art, literature, architecture, social, political) and the human stories. a rare treat and worth sharing with others. two enthusiastic thumbs up for karolina !

Description

Amsterdam was built on water. It has around 60 canals and more than 1000 bridges. The 17th century was an especially important period in the city’s history as this is when the main canals were developed.

Dam Square is the heart of Amsterdam; this is where the Royal Palace is located. The oldest part is the former harbour district, also known as the Red Light District.

Exactly what I had hoped for.
Karla was lovely. Very friendly, knowledgeable and personable. The pace of the tour was perfect. Really enjoyed getting to know the city through Karla's eyes. She has lived in Amsterdam most of her life and can therefore share the old and the new Amsterdam through personal experience.
