A brigand's hideout

Davelis Cave

Why locals love it

Not many people have been there since you need a car to get to the slopes of the mountain. The myth says that the cave was the hideout of the infamous brigand, Davelis. This is still not verified as a historical fact, so a lot of people are still looking for his treasure! It's a big cave with great depth, and dark enough to make the scenery spooky.

Why you should visit it

If you are tired of the city fuss then you should visit the cave. While driving on the slopes of Penteli, the view is stunning. Makes sense if you think that you are on the edge of the Attica basin. Apart from the panoramic view, the cave itself is a very special sight to explore, if you are an adventurous ad fearless person!

Special tip

One of the peculiar facts about the cave is a small hand imprint on the rock. After you enter the cave you will see it on the left.
