Our tour with Eleni was fabulous. We loved seeing parts of Athens we would never have found and tasting authentic Greek dishes. Eleni was a perfect host, so warm and interesting. She was an excellent ambassador for Greek cuisine and gave us a glimpse of how Greeks live outside the tourist haunts. We were very pleased to receive a follow-up email with notes from our tour, some favorite recipes and even her suggestions for food in our upcoming stay in Santorini. We try to do food tours in cities we visit and this was an excellent choice. One of my favorite discoveries in Greece was the drink Maotixa. We bought a bottle at one of Eleni’s stops and smiled every time we had a drink. I only hope I can find it in the US. Eleni and GreekingMe Food tours were a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Athens.

Highly personalized and insightful foray into Greek Cuisine
Elena, our guide took us (my husband and me) through a lovely night time stroll through the Syntagma, Monastiraki, Plaka and Psirri. She took us to a variety of places from chic cafes to family-run tavernas. We loved just about every dish we sampled and learnt so much about the cuisine, it's influences and the history. We did the tour on the first day of our 2 week holiday and this set us up so well for the rest of our trip. We knew what to order going forward and were not stuck to eating Sovlaki and Gyros for every meal. Elena gave us helpful suggestions about restaurants to visit in Santorini and Nafplio as well. Thank you GreekingMe and Elena for this wonderful experience.

Fabulous Food Tour
Got to experience the food tour in the night thanks to my friends who gifted it to me and my wife. We had no idea what to expect but by the end of the tour we decided that for all our future trips we will start with a food tour.

Elena was fabulous in taking us through the various options of Greek cuisine and that set the tone for our wonderful two-week trip. We had this on the first night in Athens and thanks to Elena's tips we visited a few more restaurants in other places across Greece. On the night we were back in Athens we went back to one of the restaurants (Ergon Deli).
We will definitely recommend everyone who visits Greece (especially Asians) who are not familiar with authentic Greek cuisine to signup with these guys.
Thanks for the experience.

We could not recommend this tour enough. It was fantastic. The 3D tablet view of the monuments really added an extra dimension to the experience. Our guide was an Archeologist. So smart and knowledgeable. Our children loved the tour.

We were delighted with our tour of the Acropolis and with our guide, Evita. After being disappointed a the “official” guides we hired at two other sites (Knossos in Crete and Pompeii in Italy) we decided to try booking a guide in advance. We have two boys age 11 and 14 and we wanted a guide that would engage them -- and us adults too. And we got it. Evita was fun, interesting, and informative. They boys (and my wife) rated her a 10 out of 10. She was really great at engaging the kids and asking them questions. So they felt involved. She used to be a teacher and it shows. The iPads with 3D views were a nice but optional addition to the tour. It still would have been good without them. Overall our trip to the Acropolis created memories that will last for ever.

Our guide was an invaluable part of our experience at the Acropolis. If it wasn’t for her, I would have been looking at a bunch of old white pillars that meant nothing to me. There was little to no signage to explain what you’re looking at. Marilena brought the monuments to life with stories of mythology and daily life in Ancient Greece. She had iPads with a cool program where you could point them at a site and it would show you what it would have looked like at the time. Really helped make sense of what you’re looking at. Our group was very mixed in background knowledge including a toddler, 10 year old, archaeologist, and adults with no background in Ancient Greece. Marilena kept everyone engaged the entire time. (With the exception of the toddler, but that’s to be expected. And she was always understanding when he was distracting or one of us needed to step away from the group. She was great with him and made us feel he was welcome and enjoyed- a trait we’ve found lacking in other tour guides when faced with a strong-willed toddler). I’d strongly recommend her to anyone. Marilena also recommended a couple amazing local restaurants that we wouldn't have known about. She came to dinner with us and helped us chose food and wine. She's such a wealth of local knowledge. We laughed together and learned from her expertise. I feel like I truly made a friend.
