Best View in Athens: Enjoy the City from Above

Hike to the top of Mount Lycabettus and feel the vibe of the city. It’s the highest hill in Athens and it offers spectacular views. Its name means “the hill where wolves walk”. Afterwards, explore a couple of local neighbourhoods and check out some street art, cool shops and bars.

After a few flights of stairs, we entered Lycobettos Hill park. A peaceful stroll through the pines with amazing views of the city below. A great place to have a chat while walking. Visited the metal-built amphitheater, but the gate was locked; next time, perhaps. At the summit, we passed through the courtyard of three restaurants to get to a little church at the peak. Coming back down from the tour, we stopped at a little bakery that opened in 1938. I would do this again. Ευχαριστώ πολύ! -BR

Description

Goddess Athena created Lycabettus by accident when she dropped a stone… Come with us and listen to legends about her while enjoying the spectacular view, either during the day, at night or at sunset. Drink a beer and listen to stories of the city. We can hike there easily: it takes just 20 minutes, or we can take the funicular.

Afterwards, we’ll head to the Kolonaki neighbourhood – the high-class and artistic quarter of Athens.

Our next stop will be Exarcheia – a historical neighbourhood close to the University of Athens. It’s always full of young people and it has a revolutionary atmosphere. It’s an area full of coffee shops, bars, traditional restaurants, nice neoclassical buildings, amazing street art and small shops.
