Goat Island is NZ's first marine reserve. The crystal clear water is full of sealife with rays, snappers, crayfish and many others. You can explore these waters by snorkeling, scuba diving, glass bottom boat or even a clear kayak, all of which can be hired on-site or a close drive away. It is only an hour's drive away from AKL CBD.

Why you should visit it
There are also many short hikes around that look out over the Hauraki Gulf.
Special tip
Up the road from the beach is a little discovery centre by University of AKL. The discovery centre has an interactive touching pool.
