Cheer ups is all about Austin community. It's always hosting fun events like arts and crafts, local vendors, or if you're lucky you'll get to go to one of their Middle School Dance Parties. It's never too packed and has some great vegan food trucks.

Friday nights are 80s nights, Saturdays are new music, Tuesdays are LGBT night (Tuesgays), etc. Basically, it's a really hip dive bar with a dance floor. Drinks are in plastic cups and the atmosphere is young. It's a great place to finish the night. Ending at Barbs is usually followed with a hangover the next morning, but it's usually worth it.

The dance floor is small, but the music is great. Drinks are reasonable, no food service but you can bring anything you wish or have something delivered. The crowd varies from college students to retirees who've been coming regularly for 30+ years. An Austin icon!

"Dirty 6th" is 6th street between Congress Avenue and Interstate 35 where there are many bars on both sides of the street for roughly 7 blocks. Bars like Maggie May's, Jackalope, Blind Pig, Dirty Dog, etc. It's worth bar hopping and people watching if you're new. Usually very packed on the weekends.
