Best Hiking Spot in Austin

Barton Creek Greenbelt

Why locals love it

This trail is great because it is shaded most of the way and has a ton of water spots to jump into to cool off. It's dog and family friendly and not overcrowded during the week. The trail is easy to follow and you can make it a quick 1 mile hike or add on a few other trails to make it a 3-6 mile hike.

Why you should visit it

The outdoor side of Austin is what makes people fall in love with it. Yes, there is live music and bars but the nature here is fantastic. This is really saying something coming from a Colorado native. The trails are pretty easy and mostly shaded. It's also great to be able to jump in the water along the way.

Special tip

Go during the week if possible to avoid any crowds. Also, start at the 360 bridge. That is the best entrance.
