This swimming spot is a great place to cool off in the summer and the hike isn't too hard. After a good rain, it's nice to go there and sit in the many waterfalls that spring up. There is a short waterfall that you can jump off and a rope swing.

This centrally located stage usually has plenty of parking and is a great activity to enjoy outside during the summer. The shows are family and dog friendly. Every week there is a different kind of show and they and are not overcrowded (unlike other free outdoor shows during the summer).

This spring-fed swimming pool is a delight on every level from it's temp. (65-75 year round) to the history and architecture. Tucked into a corner of the Lady Bird Lake trail and just down the hill from "the" neighborhood dive bar, there is every reason to pay the $3 entrance fee to sun yourself on the banks of the Deep Eddy Pool.

The museum is a great place to learn about the History of Texas and the west. The exhibits are laid out in mostly chronological order and you can see how Texas and Austin became what they are today. There is also a separate exhibit on ACL so you can learn about that festival.

This natural pool formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to erosion thousands of years ago. Located 23 miles west of Austin, it's one of the most gorgeous spots to visit. The 1/4 mile hike has some steep spots but it is completely worth the challenge when you get the secluded grotto.

This trail is great because it is shaded most of the way and has a ton of water spots to jump into to cool off. It's dog and family friendly and not overcrowded during the week. The trail is easy to follow and you can make it a quick 1 mile hike or add on a few other trails to make it a 3-6 mile hike.

This is a place that I bring anyone that is visiting Austin. It's a staple to show visitors. As a local, it is a cool place to go at anytime and see how it has changed since the last time you went. It has a great view of the Capitol Building and it's easy to get to.

This park stretches from the Northwest side of town all the way to downtown. If you're here on a beautiful day 10/10 would come out here. There are numerous trailheads leading to the river. Great for hiking, swimming and hanging out with friends. Extremely dog friendly. As long as you pick up your cans you can drink out there.

Great minor league stadium. You can really get up close and personal with the players and the entertainment during the breaks is fantastic. The prices are what you would see at major league stadiums so that was my only disappointment.

As a little island, it's great to let your dog off-leash and not have to worry about him/her. There are other dogs there for your pup to make friends and it doesn't get overcrowded because the lack of parking prevents that. It's a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery while your pup plays with new found friends.

Phew, where to even begin. Kick-Butt honestly has some of the best coffee in Austin, but the food and the drinks even pale in comparison to the atmosphere and the owner. This place has the best cookies and has live music. You can sign up for a regular email with opportunities to win gift cards, and the owner is incredibly responsive to feedback. 10
