Description

The tour starts at the Maiden Tower, the symbol of Baku, with an overview of how the building was used throughout the centuries.

From the UNESCO-listed heart of the city, we’ll move to another UNESCO site - Gobustan Reserve, which is home to more than 6,000 rock engravings dating back 40,000 years. You'll be able to see settlements of ancient people and evidence of the culture of the Stone Age.

The next destination is one of the world’s natural wonders, the Gobustan Mud Volcanoes. We will need to take separate transport to this location (not included).

Azerbaijan has the most mud volcanoes of any country in the world and locals use the clay to treat a range of diseases from skin rashes to rheumatism. You'll be amazed by this sight!

We will then stop for a short lunch break.

During the tour, we’ll also visit a holy place for Zoroastrians - the Ateshgah Fire Temple where fire worshippers have gathered for several centuries.

Our final stop will be the Mardakan Castle, which has withstood several attacks. Here, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into the Middle Ages.

Brilliant day trip from Baku
Nijat and driver Sanan are a great double act, personable and informative. Fire temple and Petrographs were impressive but highlight was seeing mid volcanos driven in an old Lada. Nijat learned I was a football fan so detoured to show me the Qarabag stadium and statue of the famous 1966 linesman. I fully recommend this tour to anyone visiting Baku with a free day

Passionate guide with great experience
This trip is well balanced. You have a museum, a hike and a nature sight (including driving an old Soviet car). Nijat is opened for sharing local experience and does not give too much of “waste touristic” information:)
Fantastic walking tour
Nijat is your ultimate guide for Baku. Friendly, easy going, knowledgeable, and amazing sense of humour. The tour of the old city was relaxed and really interesting. Nijat is also great for local recommendations and is more your Baku friend than just your guide.
Baku tour with Nijat
I had a wonderful day with Nijat who was my tour guide in Baku. Nijat took me through the old town and major sightseeing destinations in Baku. He shared many useful tips and took me to local wine tasting which was fantastic. Once you plan to visit Baku Nijat is your main point of reference. Get in touch with him and experience local life of Baku.
