TOUR PLAN
09:30 Departure for excursion to theGbustan museum and nature reserve "Gobustan"
The reserve is well known with its perfectly preserved rock paintings - petroglyphs - a kind of artistic "archive" of human evolution on the Earth.
After all, tour to Mud Volcanoes: a whole family of ‘geologically flatulent’ little conical mounds that erupt
with thick, cold, grey mud
2:30 pm - In Baku (Fountain square)
We offer one hour lunch time in Baku, as an option you can also take lunch with yourselves.
After lunch we have an excursion to the Temple of Fire Worshippers - "Ateshgah" and the fiery mountain "Yanardagh"
Azerbaijan is one of the few places on earth, where even today one can observe elements of preserved fire cult and the ancient Zoroastrianism religion. These places where oil oozes from the Earth, and natural gas breaks out like flaming torches have always attracted fire worshipers from around the world.

Pick-up from the hotel was punctual, and we had an approx 3 hours drive into the mountains where we changed into a Lada and then continued to a mountain village. From there, we hiked to another village. The hike itself is about 10 km and not very strenuous as you stay at the the same altitude level (2200m). Views were breathtaking. At the end of the trip we had a lunch in a local farmhouse and then walked back to the car, and drove back into Baku. Nurlan was knowledgeable about the environment and shared many interesting insights.
All in all, a perfect day, and highly recommended!
