Why locals love it

You won't get food fresher than this. Featuring a dizzying mix of stalls and eateries, the huge Mercat de la Boqueria is a must-see for anyone visiting Barcelona.

Why you should visit it

La Boqueria is the oldest marketplace in town. This old market has been lauded by the famed chef Ferran Adrià and is a point of pride to the residents of Barcelona. The market was built in 1840, and in 1914, the market was covered by the lovely metal roof.

Special tip

El Pinotxo is rightly famed for some of the best tapas in town, though it's not for the budget traveller.
