La Boqueria is the oldest marketplace in town. This old market has been lauded by the famed chef Ferran Adrià and is a point of pride to the residents of Barcelona. The market was built in 1840, and in 1914, the market was covered by the lovely metal roof.
El Pinotxo is rightly famed for some of the best tapas in town, though it's not for the budget traveller.
