Why locals love it
Montjuic is admittedly something of a tourist attraction, but don't let that put you off - it's great for day trip and has a number of museums and attractions. For instance the Olympic swim stadium, cut into the rockside. Or the Joan Miro museum, focusing on the world-famous painter. The cable car is great for kids, young and old.
Why you should visit it
There are some spectacular views to be had over the city. The Fundacio Joan Miro overrun, but well worth the wait for the amazing collection as well as the stunning building and garden. The Poble Espanyol tries for the "living history"-fad, and actually also has decent eateries and nightlife.
Special tip
Get there on the public transport by switching to the fuicular at metro Parallel.
