This tour is perfect for those looking to escape bustling Barcelona for a day. We’ll visit the well-preserved 16th-century stone village of Rupit, admire spectacular scenery in the mountains and high-altitude valleys of the area, and work up an appetite as we explore the winding cobblestone streets and enjoy a 2–3-hour hike.
The day begins with a 1.5-hour drive northeast of Barcelona to Rupit, which is still very much a lived-in village home to around 100 people. Visiting Rupit is like stepping back in time, and with beautiful spots at every corner, it can be hard to put away your camera.
Upon arrival at Rupit, we’ll enjoy a mid-morning snack of fresh pastries, cured meats and a beverage at one of the two local bakeries.
The hike will take us to some amazing viewpoints overlooking a 120-metre waterfall surrounded by breathtaking cliffs with a beautiful valley below.
All of this is followed by a huge traditional meal at a 200-year-old village restaurant, which may be the best, most authentic Catalan meal you’ll have on your entire trip.
