Spanish Trails was the company we chose to visit the Pyrenees. We were extremely excited, and when this is the case their is a risk you could be disappointed, but this was not the case at all! It was better than what we envisioned. Our tour guide was Alex who was rather funny and very pleasant. The included breakfast and lunch is amazing, as is the hike (the views!), and the small town is so beautiful. The only downside is a day was not enough. Now looking into one week to one month hiking experiences. Totally worth it!

Description

This tour is perfect for those looking to escape bustling Barcelona for a day. We’ll visit the well-preserved 16th-century stone village of Rupit, admire spectacular scenery in the mountains and high-altitude valleys of the area, and work up an appetite as we explore the winding cobblestone streets and enjoy a 2–3-hour hike.

The day begins with a 1.5-hour drive northeast of Barcelona to Rupit, which is still very much a lived-in village home to around 100 people. Visiting Rupit is like stepping back in time, and with beautiful spots at every corner, it can be hard to put away your camera.

Upon arrival at Rupit, we’ll enjoy a mid-morning snack of fresh pastries, cured meats and a beverage at one of the two local bakeries.

The hike will take us to some amazing viewpoints overlooking a 120-metre waterfall surrounded by breathtaking cliffs with a beautiful valley below.

All of this is followed by a huge traditional meal at a 200-year-old village restaurant, which may be the best, most authentic Catalan meal you’ll have on your entire trip.

We are a family with 4 boys aged 18-23 and this was a great trip, Richard our guide was the best! He was a pleasure, very knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. We had a great hike and it was not too rough, although a true hike through wooded paths and inclines, wear good hiking shoes! The views at the peaks were spectacular! Our lunch in the town of Rupit was so authentic and charming, we felt like a true part of the town! The town of Rupit was untouched, like taking a trip back in time, simply like no other. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to others.
