With just over 100 years, Belo Horizonte has a lot to tell. Fortunately, the biggest part of its timeline is based on peaceful events and glory days. There were sad episodes too, but we can't complain. The Abílio Barreto Historic Museum tells this story very well. It is located in a charming big house from 1883, older than the city itself.

The MHAB collects and preserves items that contribute to the understanding of the socio-historical aspects of the city. It displays paintings, sculptures, buildings fragments, clothes, household items, work equipments, documents, maps, pictures, books and so on. Close to the house, a tram and a steam locomotive complete the symbolism of the museum.
The museum houses the Ortiz Bistrô & Café, which offers contemporary food and a nice range of drinks. It serves breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner.
