The Governor Magalhães Pinto Stadium – or Mineirão – is where natives put their love for soccer to the test. Projected by Oscar Niemeyer and founded in 1965, the stadium is regarded as a World Heritage Site. Some of the major soccer matches happen there.

If you love soccer, you MUST visit it! If you’d like to see a match, access the stadium website (estadiomineirao.com.br/compre-seu-ingresso) and buy your ticket. I suggest a match between Cruzeiro and Atlético, main teams of the state. Natives go nuts! BTW, the Mineirão is where Germany beat Brazil 7-1 at the FIFA 2014 World Cup. Oh dear!
At the stadium site you can schedule a guided tour through restricted áreas accessed only by players and journalists. The stadium also has a museum.
