It is one of the most symbolic places in the city. Almost as old as Belo Horizonte, the Praça da Liberdade (Liberty Square) synthesizes architecture, landscaping, history and quality of life. Until 2010, the square housed the political activity in the city. Today, it hosts a cultural complex formed by museums, a library, and a planetarium.

The most iconic buildings of Belo Horizonte are located there, such as the Governor’s Palace, the “Rainha da Sucata” (Queen of Scrap), the Niemeyer Building (projected by the most famous Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer) and the Public Library.
In the late afternoon, walk throughout its Versailles inspired gardens, passing by the bandstand and the fountain (even more beautiful at night).
