Erected in 1932, this temple was consacrated to the Our Lady of Good Voyage. In 1709, the portuguese Francisco del Rey arrived in Belo Horizonte, bringing with him a statue of that saint, patroness of the portuguese navigators. He settled down. To honor and protect the image, he built a small temple, later demolished to erect the current church.

Contrasting with the modern architecture of the neighborhood, this neo-gothic cathedral – also known as Belo Horizonte Cathedral – is one of the most beautiful buildings of the city. Its complex is composed of the nave, the Saint Peter Julian Eymard chapel, the parish house and the night worship lodge. Worth a visit!
The statue of the Our Lady of Good Voyage – which is also the patroness of the city – is located on the altar of the right side of the church.
