Maybachufer

Kreuzberg-Neukolln  •  ★ 4.5  •  $

Maybachufer is a promenade along the Landwehr Canal in Berlin, forming part of the boundary between Kreuzberg and Neukolln. Twice a week the Turkischer Markt, the Turkish Market, sets up along the canal-side street, trading on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11am to 6.30pm. Stalls sell fresh fruit and vegetables, Turkish and Middle Eastern cheese, olives and flatbreads, and textiles including fabric sold by the metre. The market has long served Berlin's Turkish and Arab communities as well as the surrounding neighbourhoods, and draws a wider crowd for the combination of low prices and the canal setting. Outside market days the promenade functions as a tree-lined pedestrian and cycling route with benches and canal-side seating, heavily used in warm weather. The nearest U-Bahn stations are Schonleinstrasse on Line 8 and Kottbusser Tor on Lines 1 and 8, both a short walk away, with bus route M29 also stopping nearby.
