Hi all could you please recommend any place for local food, preferably a place where locals themselves go. :)

Well, Germany has other strong suites than food. Most of the traditional dishes are meat and potatoes. But if you are looking for a good wiener schnitzel and some delicious red cabbage (surprisingly tasty!) Or anything wurst (sausage) related, I heavily recommend Prater in Prenzlauerberg, it's the oldest biergarten in Berlin, the bier is cheap and good and the food is authentic (keep in mind that there are both biergarten stands and a restaurant. You want to order from the restaurant). If you are in Friedrichshain, go to Kurhaus Korsakov, it's cheap, jam packed with locals and they give you more schnitzel on your plate than you can eat in a day. My particular recommendation, especially if you are around the trendy Kreuzberg area, is to head over to Max & Möritz! Very authentic food, sehr lecker! (Very tasty) and very pretty on the ground floor. But slightly more expensive.

Markthalle neun on Thursdays for street food. Not much German food but good vibes and it's a Berlin staple: Eisenbahnstraße 42/43, 10997 Berlin
