New bar area in Eastern suburbs?

By Mikko Traveller July 28, 2016

A while ago I was reading some (?) magazine with Berlin travel tips. I just don't remember what and where it was... In the article it said something like this: "After seeing the usual bar streets/districts head to Eastern suburb X (?). The area is getting more popular and bars are emerging. Not yet full of tourists." Suggestions? Which area might be in question?

Monterey bar , 8mm , Herman, Dr Pong, in Prenzlauer Berg Minimal in Friedrichshain are all solid places.
Hi Mikko,
I have lived here for 10 years and in nearly every are of Berlin.
It also really depends in which year the article was written.
If it was written bewteen 2007 - 2010, the are could well be Neulölln - although not east.

Berlin has no are that is un-discovered as far as I am concerned. I have a very good social and outdoor knowledge-base of Berlin. But an area that might seem un-discovered, or not so popular to someone else / a traveller - may be an area which Berliners like myself would find common. It really depends on if the writer had experienced Berlin before.

But again, if you are look for something specific, let me know and I will see if I can help you out.

Cheers!
Dov ;)
Hi Mikko,
the question is does it mean geographically east or former east ie. eastern berlin?

However, maybe if you tell me what you looking for in Berlin for bars, then i can help you with where you would be interested in?

cheers!

Thx for your reply! The area mentioned in the magazine was referring to a geographically Eastern neighborhood. Obviously in the former "East"... It might be so that we're chasing a ghost here, which popped up in some reporter's mind as a bar area .) Been to Berlin tens of times and I have gained lot's of experience from the bars East/West/North/South... I wish I could relocate the article.
