Things to do in Berlin

(1 answer)
By Eitan Traveller August 5, 2016

Hi all!

I will be in Berlin for 3 nights, and will have some time to kill usually during the middle of the day for about 3 hours each of the days.
What places should I definitely go out of my way to see?
For reference, I will be staying at the Hotel Indigo so places within walking distance would be great.
Also I am looking for cafes to go to early in the mornings, so are there any places I should definitely go to that are near the hotel?

Thanks so much!

HiEitan,

there are 2 Hotels Indigo in Berlin; near Zoo (Hardenbergstraße) and near Alexanderplatz.
Between both are lots of Attractions to visit
The distance between both places is only 20 min to walk (and not much faster by train or bus)
If you want to see tourist attractions, you can take the Bus number 100, linking many of the sights. The best seat is at the front on the upper deck, right over the bus driver. Find information about the tour here http://www.visitberlin.de/en/article/experience-berlin-by-bus-100

I recommend; go to Hackischer Markt and visit the Hackesche Höfe (enclosed courtyard area, eight courtyards with shops, galleries, restaurants and bars).
Next door and a complete contrast: Haus Schwarzenberg (the last holdout in the heavily gentrified area, run by a nonprofit organisation) Street art and bizarre sculptures, the courtyard lead to studios, offices, an underground 'amusement park', an art-house cinema …

I also recommend to visit the Potsdamer Platz and
Don’t miss the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (between Potsdamer Platz and Brandenburg Gate).
If you stay in August, visit the Summer festival of the Kurfürstendamm (Breitscheidplatz from 08/02/2013 to 08/18/2013)
