We would thoroughly recommend this tour, and this guide, to anyone who has a particular interest in the subject, and even those new to it.

Description

After World War II, Berlin went from being the capital of Nazi Germany to being the pivotal city in the struggle to control war-torn Europe. It became the frontier of the Cold War, where the two superpowers collided.

This tour gives you the chance to retrace the ghost-like trail of the death strip and see sections of the Berlin Wall.

Your guide will show you intriguing border fortifications – from guard towers to tank traps.

You’ll then hear stories of heroism as you walk along Bernauer Strasse, a site of many remarkable escape attempts.

Your guide will tell you about the methods of the Stasi (East German State Security) and the systems, devices and people that kept the entire East German population under surveillance for 40 years.

Who were the key figures in the GDR leadership and where are they today? You’ll find out!

Excellent Cold War Walk
We did this walk in August 2016, Barnaby was a our guide, you can't miss him at 6ft 9. He was very funny and very knowledgable. The tour is 4 hours and doesn't leave you in any doubt of why the wall was built. Barnaby has some good insights and also some personal anecdotes to illustrate the Cold War. As with all these walks we learned a lot that we didn't know before. We've now does 4 of these walks and every one has been very interesting and well worthwhile/
Great insight, worth your time
