Informative Insight
Our tour guide was Warren (Darren), the Irish guy. He was very knowledgable about the topic as it is what he is passionate about. He made sure all we all knew where we were going, so that no one stayed behind. He stopped along the way to introduce the Nazi era. He made sure he everyone understood what he was saying and was open to questions and comments. He told the history from an unbiased point of view leaving the information to our interpretation and conclusions. He delivered the information in such a way that made you feel you were there, maybe sitting in a college class, being immersed in all this history. He was wonderful.

A perfect road trip to Prague
We had an amazing 10-hour one-way driving tour from Berlin to Prague. We stopped in places most international tourists don’t find. We learned so much from our wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable and funny tour guide, Sarka. She kept us entertained the entire time while safely getting us there in a comfortable van/minibus. And she gave us so much information, we were more than ready to explore Prague on our own.I would highly recommend this tour! We're looking now at the other Side Trip Tours to figure out which ones we can do.

Just an amazing experience
Our guide was Beth, who has studied modern German history and presented information in a very clear way. She provides context into the wider nazi machine, how it came to be and how Sachsenhaussen fitted into this.

She alone made the tour what it was. She was nothing short of Sensational and cannot thank her enough.

Take good comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking and take food and drinks as there is nowhere to buy snacks or drinks.

Visiting Sachsenhausen Memorial is never an easy experience for anyone but feels like an important experience to have. For this reason producing an effective tour of the camp can only be a very difficult task. I had been on previous tours of both Sachsenhausen and Auschwitz and had been disappointed with those tours, the guides finding it difficult to pitch the tour at the right level, either struggling to explain what are some very difficult topics to process or being too blasé and light hearted for the place we were visiting.

Dennis, on the contrary, was excellent. Always comfortable and approachable whilst explaining the horrific events that had happened there and also managing to produce the occasional, appropriate light hearted moment to keep the tour from being too morose, it was pitched superbly. He explained at the beginning he was a history student and you could tell, the tour never feeling like a script but a display of his passion for the subject. His use of explaining the story of someone who was a prisoner there throughout the tour made the events that happened at the camp much easier to process and gave it an authenticity that's difficult to achieve with just facts and figures.

Brilliant
Tarek was our guide for this tour. His knowledge and enthusiasm were palpable. He is a truly exceptional and talented young man. I learnt so much on this tour. He guided us straight past the crowds and took us to the pinnacles of the displays, the best viewing areas, and explained so much about the history of the museums, the people involved in their construction / revitalisation following much of their destruction and how many of the artefacts displayed had found their way to Berlin. His knowledge and ability to impart that knowledge regarding individual pieces and displays we focussed on for the tour was astonishing. This is a true gem of a tour, exceptional value and I wholeheartedly recommend It to anyone wanting a really personalised experience in a small group environment. After being on this tour with Tarek I just wish we had had more time in Berlin to see more of the the museums. This tour is a memory I will treasure and has lit an interest for me personally to delve much deeper into history and research further into much of what Tarek touched on in this tour. Thanks Tarek.

PERGAMON & NEW †MUSEUM‡ TOUR with Michael
I decided to see the museums on a tour as I wanted to make the most of my visit with a knowledgeable guide and also get fast tracked into the museums. I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hour tour of these two museums with Michael. He is an absolute wealth of information, supplementing the exhibits and museums with pictures from his ipad to expand our knowledge. He hardly stopped talking all the way round but he was so interesting I hung on every word. I learnt so much about the Ishtar Gate, Egyptian culture, an explanation of the Greek courtyard in the Neues Museum, the damage sustained by WW2 with before and after photos, and much much more. Worth every penny!

Ryan was amazing! Objective and informative
Our guide, the Scottish Ryan, is the man you should hope for when you visit Sachsenhausen. A perfect balance between speed, information, time for yourself, objectiveness, wit and thought provoking background. Due to us disappearing to find some food and ending up in another carriage on the way home, we couldn't thank him personally, so I hope my words of gratitude reach him this way. I have worked in tourism for about 20 years now and I usually dislike excursions and guides, but this man is such a pleasant exception. And my kids of 9, 12 and 14 also agreed with me. Thanks Ryan!

Great tour
I took this tour with Cesar, who although tours infrequently, was a very knowledgeable and informative guide. On the trip down to Sachsenhausen, he filled us in on a lot of the backstory of what led to the Third Reich, and during the tour he provided all manners of information, history, detail, and even anecdotes. He also allowed us a little bit of free time so that we could explore what interested us. Sachsenhausen is a difficult place to visit, but I was very impressed with Cesar and his presentation of the subject matter.

Wonderful †museum‡ tour with Jamie!
The tour was of two of the biggest museums of the Berlin: The Pergamon and the New Museum. Jamie, an archaeologist and 16 years resident of Berlin, gave the five of us an amazing tour that ran through the lives of people in cities and empires from Egypt to Rome to Babylon. He describes places and cultures as if we traveled to see them with our own eyes. This is a fascinating tour as it combines art and architecture of these old empires with history of archaeology in Prussia, Egypt and the Ottoman Empire.

We booked onto a tour of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, and our guide for the day was Lorna. She was very knowledgeable about the camp and the history behind it. And you could tell that she had a real passion for imparting her knowledge and teaching people about what really happened. It was a very interesting tour and a great way to learn about the history of the camp. I would definitely recommend this tour and Lorna.

Well worth the money. The tour guide, Dennis, was an excellent guide and knowledgable man - studying a degree in history and growing up in Berlin made him a perfect fit for the job. The tour followed the story of a single man who went to the camp, allowing a more personal touch to understanding how life was like there.

Overall a great trip - would definitely advise you wear warm clothes however!

I would definitely recommend everyone to travel with them! Guide was professional and managed to take care of the little kids and elderly people on the group (8 people), I was impressed. And the stops were incredibly beautiful, especially the views on the Elbe mountains.
