Our guide Paul was fantastic and did a great job of walking my 21 year old son and I through the concentration camp. He picked us up at our hotel and walked us through the train station and sat with us to give us a great history of the conditions in Germany post WWI that led to the establishment of the concentration camps. About 18 million people were murdered through 1000's of main camps and satellite camps. Sachsenhausen was Himmler's first design and the HQ for admin of all camps. Fascinating...

Description

Learn how, when, and why the concentration camps and the system as a whole came into being and developed.
We will look at the way the concentration camps system developed from ad-hoc prisons into purpose-built facilities and look at the multitude of functions, crimes, experimentation, murder and mass murder that occurred within (and sometimes beyond) the confines of the camp from the summer of 1936 – until its liberation in late April 1945.

Sachsenhausen is a Memorial to the many people who lost their lives and suffered here during the war. All of our guides have been through numerous training at the camp apart from their own background and education in history and related fields.

We are passionate about maintaining respect for many Organizations running and surrounding the camp. A donation is made to Sachsenhausen for every tour.

Outstanding tour - full of knowledge, tact & stories.
We had a memorial tour of Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp with Paul. Paul made it interesting personal and enjoyable despite the somber subject matter. We told him that the group (4 of us) were all Jehovah’s Witnesses and he pointed out everything that related to our interest in the site and made additional effort to find out extra information. He was tactful and careful in telling us about the terrible things that happened but never avoided discussing the details when he needed to. Paul is extremely knowledgable and friendly, you could not hope for a better tour guide.
Fascinating and educational tour
