Real Berlin Experience: Alternative Tour

We were very impressed with the information this tour provided. Jason was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable and passionate about Berlin and the alternative scene. He provided a great deal of general history as well. The tour was fast paced and covered a large area. Most appreciated was the thorough job Jason did explaining graffiti. I had seen graffiti all over Berlin before but now understand how to interpret it. Highly recommended!

Seen these on the Internet getting big'd up by the guardian and the BBC. Expectations did not let us down. Done the real Berlin experience with tour guide Alex who had a Wealth of knowledge about the city and the underground graffiti scene and also the war. Full of loads of advice about things to in Berlin and also a good laugh. A MUST DO if in Berlin. Will use these again when I'm back. Amazing city.

Did the Real Berlin Experience alternative tour today. Led by IMOGEN it was a wonderful 4 1/2 hour walk with a couple of short U-Bahn rides. Saw a lot of Street Art and IMOGEN was able to give the context for why this Art constitutes such an important part of Berlin's cultural/political development and resistance to the homogenizing pressures of Global McCulture. We also visited remains of The Wall and learned how local communities, including a number of different "squatter" communities - punk, YAAM (Jamaican/African), "Tepi", Anarcho/Socialist - have played a central role in building Berlin's unique mosaic and must continue to do so. IMOGEN's family background is centred right where we walked, which brought an enlightening personal touch to an extraordinary history and marvellous walk. Throw in two pleasant, refreshing breaks and ongoing info. regarding Clubbing, Cafe culture and much else and I am pleased to proclaim IMOGEN's walk - Highly Recommended!
