We love shining the spotlight on fun and inspiring projects in the realm of local travel. Recently, we stumbled upon Restless Berlin – a comic-strip guide to the German capital complete with illustrated maps and practical information. Its clever creators invite you to follow a chap named Berlo through the streets of Berlin to discover the city through the eyes of a local.

Over seven restless days the sketched protagonist leads readers to cherished local haunts well off the tourist radar, among them Kunstquartier Bethanien – a mecca of alternative art, Klunkerkranich – a charming rooftop bar, Modersohnbrücke – a scenic place to watch the sunset, Schwarzes Café and Kurhaus Korsakow – two legendary breakfast spots, and Tempelhofer Park – Berlin’s biggest playground. Watch the cute little clip below to learn more about Berlo and the project.

The project’s creators, Anais, Margot and Anna, recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring Berlo’s adventures to print. If you’d like a copy of the book or want to see what other rewards are on offer, head on over to their campaign page.

Do you have a creative project that promotes local travel? If so, we want to hear about it!
