London is a city predominantly populated by young single professionals, and Londoners absolutely love dating. If you’re lucky enough to score a date while you’re here (it’s not hard these days with Tinder), you’ll want to have a few good suggestions up your sleeve to impress that special someone. Chris, our local editor of London has created a list of suggestions where to take your date depending on his/her preferences.

For the classy guy/girl

If you aim to impress your date by taking him/her back in time to the golden era of the 1920s, then Nightjar is just the place for it. With live jazz, swing and blues, dim lighting and dark mahogany interiors, the atmosphere is as authentic as it gets. What’s more, the cocktail list is extensive and the bartenders are real pros. Be sure to book a table in advance!

For the alternative guy/girl

Crate Brewery is situated right by a canal in a former factory that has been beautifully restored. This place is famous for its mouth-watering pizzas and beer that’s brewed on site. Affectionately known amongst Londoners as the “Crate-date”, it never fails to impress unsuspecting individuals who have never had the pleasure of visiting it before. Even though it’s not centrally located, Crate Brewery is more than worth the short metro ride.

For the food lovers

If your date loves eating out and trying different cuisines, you can’t go wrong with Brixton Village – it has everything you can imagine and it’s all top quality. The most difficult part of your day will be to decide what to eat as everything is delicious and very reasonably priced. There are two arcade buildings split by a road, so make sure you explore both.

For the beer lovers

Most guys (and a good deal of girls) appreciate a fine brew alongside their meal. Holborn Whippet is a great place for craft beers as well as quality ciders and spirits. With a relaxed atmosphere, it draws in a mixed crowd of white-collars, students and well-informed travellers. Be sure to read the chalkboard carefully as some of the beers are really strong!

For the coffee lovers

Even though there are thousands of coffee shops and cafés in London, truly good coffee can be hard to come by. If your date is into coffee, they’ll be ultra impressed by Wild & Wood Coffee with its quirky seating and amazing brews. They also serve delicious handmade cakes and pastries – the ‘cronuts’ are a must.

Summer loving

When the sun is out, your best (and cheapest) date option is to grab some drinks from an off-licence or supermarket and find a nice grassy spot in one of London’s picturesque parks, or to simply go for a stroll. You can’t go wrong with Hampstead Heath with its beautiful woodlands, creeks, ponds and natural wildlife. It also offers fantastic views of London’s skyline.
