It must be something about being from the coast that makes us living here so tied to our history and traditions. The Old Trading Post of Kjerringøy takes us down this history in live buildings and environment so that we can feel how the ocean rode and drowned some of our forefathers and how women were left in control while their men where at sea.

Anna Elisabeth was one of those women, one of our foremothers who kept in control of the household and business while the men where at sea or gone traveling. Fore some years she ran the Trading Post all by herself, after her first husband had passed away in the late 1800s. She might be considered a symbol of early feminism.
Make sure you get both the guiding tour outdoors and inside the main house. These are two separate tours, and you need to book the one indoors.
