Underground jewel now open to public

Bagni Di Mario

Why locals love it

"Bagni di Mario" or "Conserva di Valverde" has finally reopened after years. This is a very hidden jewel in town: a cave designed to collect the water the used to feed the Neptune fountain and other hydraulic features in town. Designed by a famous architect in late 1.500, is now possible to visit thanks to the association "Succede solo a Bologna".

Why you should visit it

To understand deeply the importance of the water for Bologna in the past, and to admire the genius of architect Tommaso Laureti, who invented a revolutionary underground system which connected Bologna's hills with one of its symbols: The Neptune fountain.
