It's hard to find in the city a place which has changed its function so often, in more than 2.2000 years. Here the Romans settled the first stone of the future Bolonia (189 b.c.) as you can see from the Sala Borsa excavation. Today, this place is a multifunctional cultural center and a public library.
If you want to discover more about Bologna's ancient history, this place tells you a lot about the evolution of the city. In fact, here you can have a glance of the first Roman settlement in the city- for free - and experience at the same time a modern urban center, which today shows a liberty style architecture on the inside.
Borsa in Italian means Stock Exchange. So it's easy to understand why Sala Borsa has been the city's first stock exchange center.
