One of the ideal destinations while visiting Bologna and Emilia Romagna region, is the city of Modena. The town is perhaps most famous as the home of some of Italy’s most famous automotive brands such as Ferrari and Maserati – but it's quickly becoming a place of interest especially for foodies, who come here to discover the culinary delights of Modena, and its quiet and genuine life.
We'll meet at Bologna train station and, after a fast 30-minute train ride, we'll stroll through the ancient streets of Modena city centre, reach the main square Piazza Grande and admire the UNESCO world heritage Cathedral and the Ghirlandina tower. We then experience the foodie heart of Modena, historical Mercato Albinelli, where you'll discover Modena's culinary tradition by tasting some local products like Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano and Lambrusco wine. Next, you'll walk along unexplored corners of the old town and visit some historical "botteghe" (family-run shops) where you'll have the chance to taste and buy traditional Aceto Balsamico and other local products.
