With stunning views of the city, the Villa Ghigi park is a retreat from the hectic city. The entrance is at the end of the Via Mamolo and almost immediately the city evaporates as you ascend the hill. No matter which season you go, for fitness or romantic walks, it will always be rewarding.

Why you should visit it
If the view from this hill impressed even Napoleon when he passed through Bologna in 1805, it must be something special. Walk up the paths - all are well maintained and signed - and enjoy this superb view of Bologna's hills.

If you have time, skip the bus and walk from the center to the park.
